The sad (no, actually good) truth is that there are so many good hosters that 
recommending one or a few would always be
highly subjective and wouldn't do justice to all the others.

As a first approximation, I would look at smaller regional companies. Often 
they are more approachable in case of
problems, but their technical abilities are mostly on par with the big 
providers. You might have to pay a little more,
and they probably won't have the capacity to support scaling to the needs of a 
huge international organization, but
sending out a few ten thousand e-mails per day is easily doable with very 
moderate resources.

For example, I have a personal virtual private server on which I run a mail 
system, OwnCloud, a git repository server,
and some other stuff. This is way below what I'd rent for commercial usage, but 
it would likely be able to run some
decently sized mailing lists or forums for a limited audience. Less than 70 € 
per year including domain name registration.
