It has only worked for you until “now” because you were an admin and were able
to allow “less secure apps” (I really do not like that term). Using the main
Google password has not worked for regular free Gmail accounts for a long time.

Google loves somewhat ambiguous statements: “You will no longer use a password
for access (with the exception of app passwords).”

That seems to mean you can still create an app password using this “secret”
link: https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords

But even without that, given that you are your own admin, I believe you should
be able to continue using OAuth2 if MailMate loses its verified status, but I
don't know where this is configured in Google admin settings (I don't have a
Workspace account).

This is likely not going to be a long term solution since this only works
because MailMate is still a verified app (for now, this is true until at least
July 8, 2025).

But then I would expect an app password to work (as described above) or being
able to explicitly allow OAuth2 for MailMate in admin settings.

That is strange given that this is what they claimed would be removed March
14th.

...

Maybe I should start referring to Google as a “less secure company” just to
even the playing field ;)
