I use the Dovecot/Postfix that comes with the OS X Server.app, and that works just as fine as MacPorts (I don't use any of the ports systems, personal choice) - so the approach Kai outlines would work fine -- indeed, part of what I want to accomplish is the ability to run "mutt" on the command line against my mail, and Mutt plays very nicely with this setup...
Anyway, Benny, if you're keeping track, "Local Mail" would be handy someday. Maybe for 3.0. ;-)
