First, are you running the latest OSX? Second, make sure you have version 3.4 of DiskmakerX. If the Mavricks installer is in the apps directory, DiskmakerX should ask you what version of OSX to make? Either lion, Mountain Lion, or mavericks. Make sure than an 8GB thumb drive or higher is formatted to Mac extended journeled
