It does require an update to version 4 but it is half price now and the regular version is normally 24.95. The deluxe version offers menu planning and more which I don't really need. I just think that recipe entry is so much easier with mac gourmet. I guess they are both good but for me the use mac gourmet is so much easier. Jim
