Well, I don't think it applies to the Braille Edge 40 because mine works fine; 
I just Mavericks about ten minutes ago. So far, I have not found any new 
troubles with my Braille Edge. I am using Bluetooth, too. So this must not 
apply to it. 

My only thing so far is Finder busy. I had to restart another time to improve 
things, but I had this happen last time, too. 

I did have to call that 877 number, however, because I got it downloaded and 
then couldn't figure out how to make it start installing. Stupid me! I should 
have gone to the Applications menu. She was too nice to say that. Now I have to 
call her back and tell I'm ok now.
