Wrong, your bootcamp part may in deed be impacted. Upgrading mac OS will cause bootcamp and it's associated windows drivers to be updated. If this happens, windows may decide you have installed on a new computer and deactivate itself. This happens to my clients occasionally. Use magical jellybean keyfinder to retrieve and back up your windows product key and make sure that you have an activation count left on your windows. Also, if you are running a screen reader such as jaws for windows that uses hardware activation, make sure you have it's registration nailed down as well.
