I've never had this happen in emails, Text Edit, iText Express, or anywhere 
else I can think of. Are you sure it is not a mars Edit setting, or that you 
are not somehow re-reading whitespace characters? I only ask because you said 
you are new to editing text, and it can take a while to get the hang of doing 
that.
