Have you a bluetooth keyboard with which to try? ON my built in keyboard, if you can believe it, I've got an entire virticle row gone. These are the keys which no longer type:
x s w 2 F2 escape Grave accent and tab. The only solution was an Apple bluetooth keyboard or els have the entire top of the machine replaced at a cost of about $300 or so. Keeping in mind my warantee is out. Sent from my mac, the only computer with full accessibility for the blind built-in!
