I still cannot tell you how to spend your money … you still will not listen to 
me anyway :). 

I have a Mac Book Pro and I bumped it up to 8 gig of ram and it made a 
tremendous difference all around. You can bump it up to 16 and I did though it 
is not necessary unless you just want to make your mac book pro last a long 
time :). 

8 is wonderful to start with and if you find you require some more, you can get 
it later. this pro still hums and I got her in 2011.
