Hi, Not sure if this works for Lion but in Mountain Lion, it worked for me every time. Note that I'm in the New View of Mail in Mountain Lion, not classic View.
• Interact with the Mailboxes List. • Interact with the Mailbox you wish to move. • Press VO-cmd-space, VO will announce Mouse down on. • Stop Interacting with the Mailbox name. Now, it's a little tricky. Because of the placement of the VO cursor when navigating, where you navigate to depends on whether you're going up or down. If you're navigating down, then navigate to the Mailbox you wish to have the original Mailbox placed after. If you're moving up, you'll need to navigate to one Mailbox higher than the one you want it placed before. • Then press VO-cmd-space to drop it. If you have all cursors following each other like I do, then VO will jump to the Messages area but you can simply stop Interacting with it then go back to the Mailbox List and "voila", things are switched around. For example, if you have the following four Mailboxes in this order: Home Work GMail iCloud To move the iCloud Mailbox to the second position, Interact with the iCloud text from within the Mailboxes List, VO-cmd-space to perform the Mouse Down action, then Stop Interacting,, move up to the Home Mailbox, Interact with it then press VO-cmd-space to Mouse Up and thus drop it in place. the iCloud Mailbox will now be in position two and the others will remain in their same order. to move the iCloud Mailbox back to position four. Interact with it from within the Mailboxes List, press VO-cmd-space to perform the Mouse Down action, stop Interacting with the Mailbox, move down to the GMail Mailbox and Interact with it, then press VO-cmd-space to perform the Mouse Up action thus dropping it after the GMail Mailbox. If this key combination is too awkward for you, set up something in the Keyboard Commander to handle the Mouse Down and Mouse Up actions. HTH. Later...
