William, I cannot speak for ABBYY as I have never used it. Nor, can I offer much info about prizmo as I am very new to prizmo 2. I have a little bit of experience. I was able to use my scanner directly from prizmo. I scanned a two page paperback book and the results were good. I was able to export the OCR'd document into a pdf. I found it a bit cumbersome and a bit difficult to get around, but it's brand new to me so I'm not sure if I am just a slow learner and it's actually simple. If you go to the mac app store it will tell you all the ways you can import documents for OCR. A few I remember is, from a camera, from a scanner, from a file, and from screen capture. I believe you can even use your iPhone while hooked up to your computer to take a picture. HTH, Christina
