Essentially, iTunes Match allows you to upload your music to the cloud and
have access to it via the cloud.
When you decide to listen to a song, it's downloaded to your device and
played.
The match part of it is that when you upload your lib, iTunes Match will
find the best recording of that particular song and artist and give you
access to it.
It's an annual subscription, and I think the first $24.99 covers 25000
songs.
