Hello Chris. I too have a 13 inch 2012 Air. I've only heard the fan come on once, and that was when I was moving my stuff to this new Air. This does not sound normal. Maybe take it to best buy and see what they've got to say. Also, you'll still have one year of Apple Care support at you're disposal. Maybe give them a call and see what they've got to say as well.
