Do vlc. You can speed it up or slow it down, though not with as much control as 
I'd like, and you can control the volume and skip around the track. The 
interface is also simpler, though you will have to label some buttons based on 
their help tags, and the whole program runs faster. Just my observations, but 
hey, it's free!
