Wow! You certainly made a lot more progress researching this than I ever did. For now, booting into snowy kitty or using VLC works OK. It's just the whole principle of why did they have to go and break it in the first place. Anyway, if you can find whatever it is that needs downloading to fix it, please let me know. OK, well, after googling I found the problem. I don't know how to fix it though, but it's at least a start for us. Apparently, something in 10.7 and above with the midi Synfire gm midi synth broke. This means all instrument patches are way quieter than normal. The web site I went to suggested that you update to HN2 2.5.0 or higher to fix the problem, but I have yet been able to find a donwload link anywhere to do this. Don't ask me what HN2 2.5.0 is/does? I have no clue aside fixing the problem. You now basically know what I know.
