I find the Nuance voices; especially US English Tom (the premium version) to
be much faster in responseivness under Lion. As for ML, can't say just yet as
the installer is now in residence in my app folder awaiting use.

    Hi all,
I don't know if this has changed in Mountain Lion, but in Lion vo is
usually a bit sluggish. It's useable, but it isn't as responsive as a
Windows screen reader, and I can't help wondering if part of the
problem is Alex. He sounds great, but are there other voices, whether
the ones you cna download under speech preferences or third-party
ones, that make vo respond better? Ideally, a lightweight synth like
ESpeak would be wonderful (I know, most people hate ESpeak). I'm not a
fan of any other mac voices, though I haven't yet tried the Nuance
ones you can download. Any thoughts? Did 10.8 improve things at all in
this regard? I'm using a mini with 2gb ram, but I have seen the same
thing on an Air with 4gb ram and even a 2011 Pro.
