Subject: synth that makes vo snappier?
Hi all,
I don't know if this has changed in Mountain Lion, but in Lion vo is
usually a bit sluggish. It's useable, but it isn't as responsive as a
Windows screen reader, and I can't help wondering if part of the
problem is Alex. He sounds great, but are there other voices, whether
the ones you cna download under speech preferences or third-party
ones, that make vo respond better? Ideally, a lightweight synth like
ESpeak would be wonderful (I know, most people hate ESpeak). I'm not a
fan of any other mac voices, though I haven't yet tried the Nuance
ones you can download. Any thoughts? Did 10.8 improve things at all in
this regard? I'm using a mini with 2gb ram, but I have seen the same
thing on an Air with 4gb ram and even a 2011 Pro.
