Hi Ioana, Veronica, and Others, The information on Command-Option-Right or Left arrow is actually listed in the keyboard shortcuts for iTunes, under the "Help" menu on the iTunes menu bar. However, for a more comprehensive summary of different ways to forward and rewind when playing tracks, see one of my old posts: • Different ways to forward and rewind in iTunes [was Re: Fast forwarding and rewinding in iTunes]: http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg39159.html You can hold down the Command and Option keys and tap the right or left arrow key to move in about 5 second jumps. IR remotes do not work for MacBook Air models. Also note that the above linked post refers to the "RestartAt" AppleScript that allows you to move to any specific position you choose when you play a track -- this is most useful for long tracks, such as audiobooks, podcasts, videos, TV shows, and movies, but will also work for music tracks. The address of Tim Kilburn's VoiceOver downloads page for getting this AppleScript changed when MobileMe superseded dot Mac, and the current URL is: http://web.me.com/kilburns/voiceover/downloads.html This web site may disappear when MobileMe service ends in June, so you might want to download this now, if you're interested in this feature.
There are complete instructions on how to install and use the RestartAt AppleScript with the download, which basically amounts to placing the AppleScript, either via copy or move, into the Library/iTunes/Scripts folder for your account. If this is the first time you are adding an AppleScript to iTunes, you will have to create the Scripts folder. Any AppleScripts placed into this folder will show up on your iTunes menu bar as items in a "Scripts" menu that is located just before the "Help" menu. In Lion, your Library files are "hidden" by default, in the sense that they won't be displayed in Finder when you're in your home directory, but you can always use the Command-Shift-G "Go to Folder" shortcut to navigate to your Library folder. For example, to create a Scripts folder under the Library/iTunes folder for your account, take the following actions in Finder: 1. Press Command-Shift-H to move to the home folder for your account 2. Press Command-Shift-G to bring up the dialog window for moving to a specific folder, and in the text field either type or paste in: Library/iTunes then press return. (That's "Library" followed by a slash, followed by "iTunes"). 3. Press Command-Shift-N to create a new folder in this location (or navigate to the "File" menu on the Finder menu bar and select the "New Folder" option), and name the folder "Scripts" (without the quotation marks). Now when you want to move a downloaded AppleScript for use in iTunes, repeat the first step of using Command-Shift-H to move to your home folder, then for the second step, use Command-Shift-G but type or paste into the text field of the dialog window: Library/iTunes/Scripts and press return. (That's "Library", "iTunes", and "Scripts" separated by a slash character, and without quotation marks.) Paste your AppleScript into this folder, and use this as you would any other menu item: select a track that may be playing or paused and choose "RestartAt" from the Scripts menu. You can either type in a new value for the start time in the dialog window, or press return to accept the default, which will be the current track position (displayed in the dialog window.) HTH.
