Hi Ann, The problem is that regardless of whether the box is checked or not in System Preferences, when you go to shut down or restart under Lion, the Windows checkbox is checked. I confirmed this behavior after speaking with an Apple rep. He stated, and it is apparently the case, that one has to uncheck this box every time you shut down or restart Lion. This might be why I have the problem of VO not talking at system startup without bringing focus to the Finder.
