Hello David, To add to Aser's explanation, you cannot choose MS Document formats to be the default saving format type in iWorks, although you can export to these file types, Pages and Numbers save in their own formats. Yuma asked about batch converting from Pages to Word documents a year ago, and I posted an AppleScript solution that can do this. That post links to the AppleScripts on a MobileMe web page, so if you think you might use them I would download these before MobileMe web pages disappear in June, or before the owner decides to migrate to iCloud.
