Yes, but this isn't the only thing that makes the finder go nuts, and if
they were to look at it now, before Dropbox fixes their end, they might be
able to more easily diagnose the problem.

Yes, that's exactly what I did; that's how I isolated the problem and
attributed it to the Dropbox module.  Then whenever I start the
Dropbox
module by hand, I get the same issues.  this confirms further
that some how, Dropbox and the finder go nuts in my environment.
Also, if I start Dropbox, I could merely avoid the finder alltogether
and just use shell commands to move/copy files to/from the Dropbox
folder and then kill the app after Dropbox is caught up.  That's
probably how I'll handle things until I get the hardware stuff worked
out.
