I'm not entirely sure what's going on with solona either but I might be able to 
help with Google's captchas.
There should be a link for playing an audio captcha during the signup process.
My advise to you would be to open a text edit document and then play back the 
audio [assuming it's actually there] back as many times as you need to here the 
challenge text and writing it down. Then when you are sure you've got it, write 
or copy and paste it in to the field where the captcha is typed.
Google's audio captcha isn't the easiest to here but it is easier than some so 
just keep trying.
