Dear Anne, I wrote you privately to mention that I would try looking at the keyboard focus item setting in navigation as soon as i could. it turns out that this setting was chosen as you had suggested. However, it didn't solve my problem. I tried both settings and the result was identical. when I opened the message and interacted, I would hear the headers. However, if i pressed VO right arrow immediately upon opening the message, the body of the message would read. so, I guess I can simply substitute VO right arrow for VO A to read an entire message. I still think this is not working correctly. but the work around is working for me now. If you have any other thoughts as to why this should be happening in mail classic view under Lion 10.72, please let me know. Best, Kevin.
