Hi Missy, Actually, VLC is one of the first things I tried. Then QuickTime 7, Neither of these is playing anything. I don't think it's the software; my hunch it is something else, but what? For instance, Garage Band plays its files, the very few that I have.
Thanks for the response. js On Sep 18, 2011, at 6:42 PM, Missy Hoppe wrote: Hi there! I'm sorry to hear you're having midi troubles, but on the other hand, I'm very happy that there's finally someone other than me experiencing this problem. So far as I know, this is a lion bug. Please contact Apple and complain about it. Midi playback actually works the same way it used to, but unfortunately, the quality is absolutely horrible now, so it would almost be better if it didn't work at all. Until it gets fixed, your best bet might be to download something like vlc media player and use it in conjunction with a sound font. To me, it doesn't sound nearly as good as midi playback under snow leopard did, which is 1 of the many reasons I haven't fully switched over to Lion yet, but it's a viable short-term solution until apple gets around to fixing whatever they broke. Good luck, and I hope this helps. Missy -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
