Hi Chris,

just my short take on using a Mac and audio production.

Well, I bought my mac to get an accessible version of Pro tools and found that
I just wasn't using my Windows machine at home at all after that. Whilst I
still use Jaws every day at work, I now prefer the Mac environment and never
thought I'd ever be saying that.

OK, So, I first found pro tools very clunky to use up until last night where I
heard a tutorial by Kevin Reeves and I now I've found it to be brilliant and it
will do all the things in your list apart from work with your dxi plugs, you'll
have to use a vst adapter and use the vst versions.

So, finally about the price, People are selling there MBoxes fairly cheaply on
EBay so you could probably pick up a second hand mbox 2 mini for about 150
bucks or maybe less, I've just checked and they're going from 59 bucks to 150
and, of course, you get pro tools in the box. If you do it, you'll need Pro
tools version 8 so that you won'd have to pay extra for the 8.4 accessible
version. Still a chunk of money i know but much cheaper than the 600 for pro
tools 9. deffinately, deffinately do that because you won't look back if you
do. Plus the PTAccess list is very helpful and will help you out using it.

OK, so it wasn't very short after all but hth.
