Hi, It's tough to explain, but if you log into your gmail account on the web,
then click settings,
then click forwarding and pop/imap,
Enable Imap, and then you use the Imap server settings instead of the pop
server settings.

This allows you to manage all of your email on the server, so that a change
made on one computer takes place across all devices that you use to check email.

Once you have added the IMap account to windows mail, you can then select
messages and press control shift V to move them. You then choose your IMap
folder and the messages are uploaded to the server. Then when you put the
settings into a new device such as apple mail on your mac, the messages are
downloaded to the new computer but managed on the server. So, your new mac and
your old windows machine will have exactly the same mailboxes and a change made
on one takes place on the other.

Just remember to remove the pop account or set it to stop checking or it will
grab all of the messages and try to delete them from the server and just make a
huge mess.
If you are really intimidated by all of this and you just want some one to sit
with you over the phone and do it, check http://www.erik-burggraaf.com and feel
free to give me a call. I charge, but you will have the peace of mind knowing
that it will be taken care of just the way you want. Or you can follow the
steps above and just keep emailing the list with questions as you go. We're
here to help.

Best,
