Hi Matthew,

I've seen firmware issues with Western Digital HDs that cause them to not show 
up properly.  Try going to the WD web-site and seeing if there are any firmware 
updates for your unit.  Barring that, I think that it's bad news especially 
since it's happening on both platforms.
