Yes. Set VueScan to create TIFF files (or some other format that you wouldn't 
use for anything else), and have those files always open with ABBYY Finereader.

You can set VueScan to single page or multi-page scanning. In single page, it 
should open Finereader after scanning one page. In multi-page scanning, you 
have to press Cmd-N to scan each page, then Cmd-G after the final page. 
Finereader is then launched and requires some information from you as to the 
name of the file and where to put it and in what format. After that, it just 
gets on with the job.

I've scanned over a hundred double-pages at one go without Finereader 
complaining.
