Me again, just in case that vo+space does not work in the vo help menu at all! If you vo+space on something in the help menu like for example label item it will execute that command! I think you do not use braille like me because I presume they can feel how a word is spelt in that menu :] hth Colin Begin forwarded message: From: Colin M <velocity.focu...@googlemail.com> Date: 11 November 2010 13:48:25 GMT To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Cc: Colin M <velocity.focu...@gmail.com> Subject: Re: Reading word by word or character by character Hi Frank! When you are inside the rooter the spelling thing will not or! So unfortunately when you are on something you need to know the spelling of, you vo+space first to take you out of the rooter then you can use the quick nav things or just interact with that text and then you can arrow through it! hth Colin On 11 Nov 2010, at 13:26, Frank Ventura wrote: Hi Anne, that trick works for me in the regular menu bar (for example if I press VO plus M). However it doesn't seem to work in a VoiceOver menu. For example if I press VO plus U (in Safari) and then press LEFT ARROW plus UP ARROW it only pings at me. It doesn't seem to work in the VVO help menu either. Am I doing something wrong? It will cycle through Navigation, Words, and Characters. These settings control the function of the up and down arrows in Quick Nav. You then use the up and down arrows to read the difficult item. This also works for filenames and other pieces of information where the usual VO reading commands won't work.
