Hi Wes, Thanks for the reply! Well, while I did successfully reset the default settings in VoiceOver, I was unable to correct the problem. Sigh. In any case, I am very grateful for your help! I should have known to check the menu bar inside of the VoiceOver Utilities window, but I suppose I feel so frazzled that I am not thinking very clearly. :-) There must be something off in Finder or window settings. I'll keep looking! Oh, I will say this much. Apparently, if I navigate to the actual list of files or folders, I can choose to interact with the list and can arrow among the items. Just never had to do this before.
