Hi. I had the same choice. I opted for the iMac, because I plan to do audio 
editing. If you just want to do general tasks and want to spend less then go 
for the Mac Mini. If you think you'll want more power and don't mind spending a 
little more you might want to consider the iMac. The Mac Mini just has the main 
unit, no keyboard, monitor, etc. so for example you will probably want to buy 
an Apple long keyboard and a magic trackpad, I'd recommend that for either 
actually, so you will want to figure things like that in. The iMac has 
everything you need, you can just plug it in, wait until you hear the welcome 
sound, then hit command-fn-f5 and enjoy!
