hello; the process of sleep on a mac is much different than with a windows computer. it takes literally only seconds to be back to full speed and it will be in whatever app it was in when you closed the lid. all your other windows will also still be open. you can set the put screen to sleep to never and uncheck the box i mentioned before but you really don't have to. good luck, max

but that will not stop the mac from going to sleep when the lid is shut. I know I'm different but I in this case want the mac to stay away when I close the lid. that way I can put it on a higher shelf and eat, or shut the lid go to a different class and open it and resume taking notes.

Hmm; i just went to energy saver under system preferences and there is a check box that is checked on mine that says put the hard drive to sleep whenever possible. its near the end of all your choices. however, I am running standard leopard not snow leopard so i may have slightly different menues than you. good luck, max

I have Energy Saving, but nothing under there, either battery or power adapter tabs, about lid behavior.
