Hi Mark,

I usually put my Mac to sleep by briefly pressing the power on/off button.  This brings
up a dialog window with the prompt about whether I'm sure I want to shut down with
buttons for restart, sleep, cancel, and shut down.  I find that pressing the "sleep
button" always works to put my Mac to sleep (even if I have to wait a little for it
to happen), while sometimes just closing the lid does not put my Mac to sleep directly.
(This is usually when there are some processes running, and things are a bit busy.

HTH.  Cheers,

Esther

I have Energy Saving, but nothing under there, either battery or power adapter
