And I have some basic questions as well. Not the least of which include the
scanning software (or is it hardware) Florian mentions. While I have been
using a Mac more on than off for a year now, I still get stuck and end up
going back to windows. Here are a couple of examples.

1. I need to know how to efficiently navigate calendar and addressbook. In
calendar for example, when I do control shit t and then get my date I want
to view entered, I hear nothing and when I vo right or left, I'm back to
today's date. Also, entering appointments is weird for me because I haven't
quite figured out how to know whether I'm on the month chooser, the day or
the year, and then we add in the time. It doesn't seem to be consistent
that one right arrow takes me to month, 2 to day, 3 to year and 4 to time.
I use this feature a lot, since my appointments sync over the air with my
iPhone and my other family members' calendars so any help would be amazing!

I am still at a loss to efficiently navigate to a contact in addressbook.
I'm at such a loss, in fact, I can't even tell you what I can't do, smile!

2. Occasionally I need to copy then paste things from a website, such as a
recipe. I cannot consistently do this. Sometimes shift downarrow works and
sometimes it does not. I would also love to know how to jump to the next
block of unlinked text. In Window-Eyes, I simply press x which moves me by
blocks of unlinked text.

If, as a somewhat new user, I could make any suggestion to Apple, it would
be to elaborate just a bit more in its command list. It's quite likely that
the answers to my questions are there, but are worded such that I don't get
it straight out of the gate.

Thanks to any and all who can help, and I hope this first post is not too
lengthy or too basic for this list. I am looking forward to learning and
sharing with you all.

Subject: some newbie mac questions

Hello,

Some of you might recognize me from the viPhone list. To those i say :
My apple journey is about to continue.
I have ordered a macbook yesterday and am impatiently awaiting it's
arrival. I have a couple of questions though.

I've been reading this list fora while now, browsing the archives and
trying to keep up with recent stuff as well.
My first question concerns garage band. Are there things that still
don't work after the update, or is everything accessible? Can you for
example select a portion of a track now?
Second is scanning. I read alot about the whole readiris and vuscan
thing, is this still the way to go for scanning and OCR?
Last one, and i'm sure this one has been asked a million times before:
Is there a directory of apps that are accessible with voiceOver? And i
don't mean the supported applications page on Apple.com, surely there
are more :P

Thanks for any help,
Florian
