To present yet another way of skinning this cat, using trackpad commander time
and battery status are easily ascertainable by double tapping the top with two
fingers
and touching near the top on the right side of the trackpad. the clock is just
to the right of battery status.

Alternatively, You can set up a trackpad gesture to speak the time or exployt
the already built int definition in keyboard commander. If you'd rather do
this with the trackpad, use keyboard help (vo-k) and press the keyboard
commander for t. The path and script will be announced. Now you can use
vo-shift-c to copy that phrase to your clip board and paste it into a trackpad
commander definition.
