THe printer runs around $500 to $700 based on sales and where you acquire it. This is a bit more printer than I needed; however, it is a color laser printer, fax and scanner in one unit. Most features can be configured through the web interface or accessed through the printer preferences on the Mac. This unit will allow you to send/receive faxes from your Mac once you have installed the HP software. THe reason I chose this printer is that we do not print a lot of stuff. THe cartridges used in the former inkjet were drying out much faster than we were using them. The laser is a dry toner and unlikely to become unusable before we get our money out of it. So, we paid more on the front-end, but will save over the long term.
