I wish I could say what it does, but alas, all I know is that it rebuilds 
damaged mailboxes. :)

I'm assuming there's some sort of table of contents file that gets befuddled 
and this operation restores it's wits! lol!

That's my scientific description for you!…

when I had the issue the first time, I Googled and found the solution. I tried 
it and it worked like a charm. So hopefully that will be the case here too…
