Hi Julie,
What I found confusing when setting up home sharing was that for some
reason, when typing in the password box, VO didn't make the accustomed
secure text clicking sounds. So, even though there was no feedback
indicating that text was being entered, it was in actuality, happening.
How long have you been a Mac user now? I think many of us are in the same
boat in terms of the learning curve. I've only begun to seriously immerse
myself in the environment over the past few months, and am really enjoying
it thus far.

years with a pc and JFW   
Still use them at work but a year with the I phone and a desire to support
that out of the box access and here I am   Mac 101!!
