Hi Anna, The simplest way to disable the trackpad is to plug in a USB mouse and then go to the Universal Access pane in System Preferences, click on the Mouse & Trackpad tab and then check the "Ignore Trackpad when Mouse is present" checkbox. HTH Marshall
