Hi,

Well, it is, according to Skype, its own technology.

Basically, what it is. it's a small, round box with two cables set close
together in a circular indent. The box has a round, slightly lowered button in
the center of the box. This is the transmitter. One cable is a USB, the other
contains the charger which you plug into the headset. The button I mentioned
before is for pairing and turning off the transmitter, though you don't really
have to touch this more than once. I'll explain the process.

The headset itself only really has several things worth noting. If you hold the
headset so that the microphone is pointing upwards and on the left-hand side,
you will find several buttons on the right-hand side of the headset. There are
several buttons. One is for answering and hanging up Skype calls. If you press
it once when receiving a call, you will pick it up. If you hold it for several
seconds, you will decline or hang up the call. Underneath that, you have the
on/off switch. TO turn on the headset, you simply press it once. The headset
will not turn on, however, unless it is receiving a signal from the
transmitter. To turn it off, simply hold it down for several seconds.
Underneath that along the bottom of the right-hand side of the headset, you
have the volume keys. Underneath this, you will find a round hole matching the
size of the cable for the charger attached to the transmitter. This will let
you charge the headset while using it. When the headset is close to running out
of charge, it will continuously beep at you notifying you that you need to
charge the headset. You can charge while using the headset as well.

The button at the top for hanging up and picking up Skype calls also seems to
function as a pairing button. When pairing the headset, make sure that you are
holding both the button on the transmitter and the headset down at the same
time for at least ten seconds. This will ensure they both pair correctly and
connect with each other perfectly.

In the old model, this works great, but the newer ones seem to be really flaky
about this and sort of forget you ever did this. The benefit to this technology
is that no interference is picked up from microwaves etc, and no interference
from cell phones. It is also worth mentioning that the newer model looks a lot
different than the old one. I am describing the old model, mainly because that
one seems to work best. It does not look like you can get the old model from
Skype's shop now, however, as they both have exactly the same names.

Regards,
Nic
