Shen, the cpu in the iPad has very little to do with apple choosing to switch to amd. The cpu in question is probably the product of a company that apple purchased a few years ago that makes high quality low power mobile processors. The reason why the info on the cpu is so vague is because apple don't want any other company to be able to use it.
Just because a company is good at making mobile processors it doesn't mean that there good at making more standard ones.
