Thanks, Jonathan. Very informative, instructive and helpful. You left
out one thing: How do I ensure that the two application windows are side
by side on screen at the same time?

Hi,
These drag and drop VO commands only work when both the source and destination
are both visible on screen at the same time. If you are dragging from Finder to
Mail, it is probably best to use the commands to have both applications take up
1/2 the screen.
Then find the source mark it with a hotspot using VO+shift+1. Now move to the
drag location and then save it with hotspot two (VO+shift +2)
Now move back to the source with VO+1 and then press VO+comma to mark that as a
drag source.
Now move to the destination with VO+2 (Move to hotspot 2 ) and now press the
appropriate drag VO command.
VO+period move to this specific location.
VO+shift+comma MOVE TO BEFORE VO SELECTED ITEM
OR
VO+SHIFT+PERIOD MOVE TO JUST AFTER THE VO CURSOR
FOR THESE COMMANDS IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO TURN OFF CURSOR TRACKING VO+SHIFT+F3 SO
THAT YOU DON’T CHANGE FOCUS WHILE THE DRAG AND DROP ACTIONS ARE OCCURRING.
EVEN WITH ALL THESE SUGESTIONS VO DRAG AND DROP DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK AND IT
DOES NOT PROVIDE SOME OF THE FUNCTIONALITY AVAILABLE TO A TRACKPAD USER.
THERE IS ALSO THE OPTION OF TRYING THE VOICEOVER MOUSE TOGGLE FUNCTION
VO+SHIFT+COMMAND+SPACE.
AND IF THIS IS SOMETHING YOU ARE DOING QUITE A BIT, YOU COULD PROBABLY CREATE A
CUSTOM APPLESCRIPT WITH COMMANDS LIKE
TELL APPLICATION “VOICEOVER” TO MOVE MOUSE TO VO CURSOR …

Yes it is possible. Check out the dragon drop keyboard shortcuts by opening up
the keyboard exploration option with VOK. Then press the VO and, and period
keys and also with the VO and shift, and period keys. These are the key strokes
that let you mark items for dragging and then dragging and dropping them where
you want. Then as you know, exit the keyboard exploration option by hitting
escape. One thing to note, dragon drop can be kind of tricky with certain
conditions. Sometimes it’s necessary to maximize the app in the screen window
or hide other apps so that the app that you want to work with is the only thing
showing on screen. That will give you your best results. G Good luck.

I have an application to which new files can be added only by dragging and
dropping them onto the interface. That's right--no menu option, no shortcut key to
open a hidden menu, nothing but d&d. Is this possible to do with VoiceOver?
