I'm getting the following message in notifications. "Warning Disk Not Recommended for Backups, Future versions of macOS will no longer support Time Capsule disks for Time Machine backups" I am and have been using a airport time capsule for router and system backup for years without any problems,. But because of an old file protocol in use by the time capsule, (AppleFilingProtocol), the backup ability is going away in future versions of Mac OS. As I understand it, I can connect an external drive for the backup function to the time capsule via its USB port, or directly to my Mac, and select that drive as the backup device in time machine settings. . I want to keep the time capsule for router because its working fine in that capacity and until it dies I don't want to bother with it... So, I guess I'm looking for drive recommendations that connect via USB. I don't need a vast amount of storage - I'm not a power user. Ideally I'd like to just hang a USB drive off the back of the time capsule. What do you all think?
