You did not specify on which device you are experiencing this issue, but since you say you are a programer, I will assume you are using a Mac.
To stop VoiceOver from speaking some characters in a different language, try the following: 1. Open VoiceOver Utility, and select Speech from the categories list table. 2. Select the Voices tab. 3. Navigate to the item labeled, "Detect Languages”, and make sure this item is unchecked.
