I certainly agree that groups.io is much truer to the spirit of the traditional 
mailing list than Google Groups has been for a long time now. But on the other 
hand, GG is free no matter how large your group, whereas groups.io has an 
insanely unrealistic pricing structure that rules out many (most?) groups that 
attract even a moderately sized membership (200 as of now, I think, before it 
becomes a paid affair with or without community contributions). Maybe it'll 
work for this group—I certainly hope so—but I'd hate to see it go under because 
of costs.
