I do believe they updated the minis last year. But as others have suggested, desktop or laptop computers will be around for a while yet. I think Apple will keep the mini regardless, to give consumers more choice. As for the battery status lights, I didn't know it existed, and after 18 months of having my mac, can't say I have missed it.
