Brad:  I think you might be right about what is causing my problem.  There is a 
message showing right now that has a question that never got answered.  
Unfortunately, it was not a real question but sort of a joke between a couple 
of people, so there won't be any answer.  I hope Apple can get this setting to 
stay where we set it.  The message this morning had nothing in its context menu 
for me to ignore the follow-up either, so I guess I am stuck with it where it 
is unless I want to delete it.  But it helps to know why this might be 
happening and not think that there is a poltergeist in my Mac!
