There is also a port on the right side of the player for usb thumb drives and other things. The review on blidcootech I think it was recommended not using that if you don't have to that inserting the thumb drive into the cartridge slot really is best. But if your particular thumb drive won't fit in the cartridge slot and doesn't require power to power up plugging it into the usb port on the side should work just as easily. Just when you insert the drive into the cartridge slot just make sure that you have the drive the right way and don't force it in. Once it is lined up it goes right in.
