Jonathan, thank you very much. I will be using this for non-commercial stuff so I think VMWare Player is OK. When I setup a VM with VMWare Player do I already need to have an .iso of an Mac OS installer or will VMWare take care of downloading that for me? Interesting stipulation about selling a Mac with an upgraded OS. I wonder if that includes donating a Mac as I usually give away my old machines? Honestly I have never downgraded an OS on a Mac. I would have to figure out how to do that.

I believe currently the license just says you must be running it on Mac hardware. If you create a VM there is an option to create a MacOS VM, and then you can install what ever copy of Mac OS you need. Tidbits.com had an article about this when the new OS did not allow 32 bit binaries to be run on it anymore. They gave instructions for how to install a VM to use 32 bit programs in the older OS. One license condition which I am not sure people really abide by is that if you sell your Mac, it should have the same OS as when you initially bought it.
